DYFO (Diafenthiuron 50% WP)
Product Description :
DYFO is an agricultural pesticide and acaricide known for its effectiveness in controlling a
wide range of pests, including mites and insects. It is formulated as a wettable powder
(WP), and its active ingredient is Diafenthiuron, which is present in a concentration of
50%. This powerful formulation is designed to protect crops from various harmful pests and
to enhance overall crop health.
Active Ingredients :
Diafenthiuron is the active ingredient in DYFO. It belongs to the group of pesticides known
as thioureas. This active ingredient works as a contact and stomach poison, affecting the
nervous system of target pests. Diafenthiuron is particularly effective against mites,
whiteflies, aphids, and various other insects, making it a versatile solution for pest
control in agriculture.
How to Use :
1. Dosage : The recommended dosage of DYFO varies
depending on the crop and the specific pests being targeted. It is essential to consult the
product label and follow the manufacturer's guidelines to determine the precise application
rate. Generally, a concentration of 50 grams to 150 grams per hectare is recommended for
field crops.
2. Application : DYFO is applied as a foliar spray.
Prepare a suspension of the wettable powder in water and ensure it is thoroughly mixed
before use. Use appropriate spraying equipment for an even and complete coverage of the
crop. It is crucial to take safety precautions and use protective gear during the mixing and
application process.
3. Timing : The timing of DYFO application is critical and
should align with the pest's life cycle and the crop's growth stage. Early detection of pest
infestations and timely application can significantly enhance its effectiveness.

Features of the Product :
- DYFO functions as a broad-spectrum insecticide and acaricide.
- It exhibits both contact and stomach actions, along with systemic and vapor actions.
- Serves as a comprehensive solution for controlling sucking pests and mites.
- Shows vapor action, making it effective in dense crops.
- Rapidly halts feeding, movability, and reproduction immediately after uptake.
- Treated pests remain immobile on the crop until their death in approximately 3-4 days.
- Effective against pests resistant to conventional pesticides.
- Provides quick knockdown and long-duration control.
- Compatible with other insecticides and selectively targets beneficial insects.
- No cross-resistance observed, making it suitable for integrated pest management (IPM).
Method of Operation :
- DYFO functions as a pro-insecticide, requiring conversion to its active form
post-application.
- The active compound targets a specific part of the energy-producing enzymes in the
mitochondria.
- This disruption in mitochondrial respiration leads to the immediate paralysis of pests
upon intake or contact with the product.
- Paralysis is followed by pest death due to starvation or fumigant action within 3-4
days.
How & When to Apply :
Recommended application method is foliar spray.
Initial spray advised upon the appearance of pest infestation, followed by 2-3 subsequent
sprays at 10–15-day intervals, based on the severity of the pest.
To prepare the solution, slowly add the required amount of DYFO to a small quantity of water
and stir well using a stick or rod.
Add the remaining recommended quantity of water and ensure uniform spraying.
Safety Guidelines & Remedy :
- Advisable to achieve a uniform spray.
- Avoid spraying during foggy weather conditions.
- Refrain from mixing with bare hands.
- Use safety equipment such as gloves, aprons, masks, etc.
- Do not smoke, drink, eat, or chew anything while spraying.
- Avoid any contact with mouth, eyes, and skin during the application.
- Ensure a thorough bath after completing the application.
- In the event of exposure, no specific antidote is known; treat symptoms symptomatically.
